Bayshore Design Studio
I started this blog because I love Cape May and I truly want to help people make wonderful memories here! It makes me so happy to share tips and tricks, exciting restaurants, bars, and activities—the list goes on. I also want to support other entrepreneurs who are building their businesses around or aligned with Cape May. Prior posts that I have written in support of these local small businesses include, Cut+Board (they’ve gotten so big), Pop & Clink and more. Recently my friend Laura Quinn’s new book (which is set in Cape May), Thicker than Water was features in one of my posts as well.
I am always looking for new businesses to feature and my Instagram feed revealed my latest one. Bayshore Design Studio has the loveliest pieces of jewelry. Each one is handmade right in Cape May. Patti Moran’s designs are colorful, whimsical, beachy… She has a wide variety of bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. If you have a favorite color, you will be able to find the perfect piece (or let’s face it pieces) at her Etsy shop.
Like most entrepreneurs, Patti’s start began with a simple idea. She saw a necklace on TV that she fell in love with and thought “I bet I could make that!”. She invested in a small jewelry starter kit and off she went. That was around 20 years ago and what started as a whim is now a thriving business. As a resident of Cape May, many of her pieces are beach inspired, but they really go far beyond being a beach gift. I love the fact that they are so incredibly colorful, and each piece is quite substantial.
She started her Etsy shop at the end of 2017 and consistently gets 5 star reviews from her customers. With comments like “Happy returning customer! Exquisite craftsmanship!”, “So very, very beautiful! Very Happy!”, “This is an absolute to-die-for statement necklace that is constructed beautifully! Nice, rich thick chunks of amethyst along with beautiful smooth onyx beads. Truly gorgeous! Lovely!!!”. I literally could go on and one. She’s happy to do custom requests and shipping is always free in the US.
It’s no surprise that Patti has gotten some attention from companies like Michaels (she did an Instagram campaign with them). She was also a spotlight designer for Halcraft Collections in August of 2021. You can read the entire write up here. If you have any interest in jewelry making yourself, the article also gives you a peak into her favorite styles and techniques.
I personally think Patti’s designs make wonderful gifts. My favorite ones are the beach inspired ones with blue, aqua and turquoise colored stones. However, I am simply blown away by the huge variety of styles, themes, and colors she offers. They would make the perfect give for so many occasions: birthday, Christmas, graduation, etc. Building a Cape May themed gift basket… why not add a pair of earrings? Also, don’t you think they would make awesome bridesmaid gifts from the bride? Each one could be unique or matching! Especially if it was a Cape May destination wedding…
I invite you to check out the Bayshore Design Studio Etsy site and Instagram account. Her one-of-a-kind pieces are simply stunning and I bet you will find it hard to decide. If you do reach out or better yet make a purchase, please let her know you heard about her here (or let me know). There’s no compensation on my part—I write these posts as a gift. However, it is nice to know if I made even a small a difference.
As always, if you are not already subscribed, do it now so you don’t miss out on future posts. There is so much I want to share about Cape May—please join me!
